When the player begins a game with Spookstone activated, one of three special starting layouts appears. All three configurations include unique orange gems that resemble jack-o'-lanterns. A jack-o'-lantern functions identically to a Flame Gem, except a pumpkin clears 12 gems in a 7×4 smiley-like pattern instead. The base value for clearing a jack-o'-lantern is 1,100 points. While Spookstone is active, pumpkins replace random orange gems throughout the game, and Flame Gems created using orange gems become jack-o'-lanterns instead.
